KSRTC Launces Mobile Tickets: Printout Not Mandatory
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation(KSRTC) has set an example for other transport entities in the country, by offering paperless ticket travel, the first of its kind in India. A printout of an e-ticket or m-ticket booked by a passenger has now been rendered redundant. The ticket details recieved on his/her mobile can be presented along with a proof of the passenger's identity to the conductor on the bus. While registering a ticket on the KSRTC web portal (www.ksrtc.in) or mobile portal (ksrtc.in/mobile) a passenger will have to provide all personal details, including the mobile number, date of birth and address. After the ticket is booked, a system-generated ticket will be sent to the passenger's registered mobile number. This system gernerated ticket will comprise passenger's name, trip code, PNR number, date of journey, departure time, boarding platform and seat numbers. The initiative is not only eco-friendly, but will also save passengers a lot of trouble. Tickets for buses can now be booked even on the move , without the passenger having to stop to get a printout.
